2 hotels offer special rates for Cebu City Marathon runners

Organizers have been able to negotiate special rates for Cebu City Marathon 2010 runners with Golden Prince Hotel & Suites and Waterfront Hotel & Casino Cebu City.

With the marathon just 26 days away, you should book your hotel room now. Cebu City hotels are typically fully-booked in January because of the Sinulog festivities every third Sunday of the month. If the two hotels are booked or are too pricey for you, there are several other hotels and pension houses in Cebu City.

Of the two hotels offering runners discounts, Waterfront Hotel & Casino Cebu City is nearest to the starting line. You can just walk to the starting line. Golden Prince Hotel & Suites, meanwhile, is just a short taxi ride away. It’s also within warm-up distance (if you consider 2 or 3 kilometers warm-up) of the starting line. The Golden Prince info sheet said all 57 of the hotels rooms are Internet-ready, fully air-conditioned and with hot and cold shower, cable TV and NDD/IDD direct dial telephone.

If these two hotels are full, you can try Golden Peak, which is also within warm-up distance of the starting line. The last time I checked, Golden Peak had a billboard announcing Wi-Fi connectivity in all rooms.

If you want cheaper accommodations, you can stay in Elicon House in downtown Cebu City. It’s a clean and safe pension house that’s a favorite among backpackers, students, and regular travelers to Cebu. If it’s full, which is likely to be the case, you can try several other pension houses within the Elicon House vicinity.
