On the run in the beautiful island
Final 42K route interactive map now available; SRP test run scheduled on Sunday
Organizers have finalized the 42K route for the Cebu City Marathon on Jan. 10, 2010. What has changed from the previous route is that runners will stay at the South Road Properties (SRP) longer. The interactive map now includes kilometer markers as well as water stations. The interactive map is included at the end of this article.
Meanwhile, broadcaster, lawyer and runner Haide Acuña, also known as Marathon Foodie, has organized a test run at the SRP on Sunday starting at 4:30 a.m. Assembly will be at the Magellan’s Cross from 4:00 to 4:30 a.m. Since there will be dawn masses or Misa de Gallo, there will be a lot of people in the area.
Acuña said “runners should take care of their own hydration.” She also said runners should run in one pack, so you have to make sure you can keep pace with them—at about 7:30/kilometer—because only one SRP Police patrol car can escort the group. While the entire SRP will be closed during the Cebu City Marathon, it won’t be closed during this Sunday’s run so you have to be careful to be safe.
Acuña said that after exiting the SRP, runners can then run on any route or distance depending on their scheduled run for the day.
“Those who feel they cannot finish the SRP trial run must ride a car or cab towards the Aduana exit. If the runner has no car or cab, it is advisable that he takes the Mambaling exit. The viaduct (about 1.2KM) is really very dangerous,” Acuña said.
She said that participants of the SRP run on Sunday will be asked to sign a waiver and contribute P10 as honorarium for the police escorts.
This is a good run especially if you are joining either the full marathon or the 21K event in January. I would have loved to join this run but the Sun.Star Running Club will be holding our second group run (during the Run for Sight at the Cebu Doctors’ University) and Christmas party on Sunday.
To the runners joining Foodie Marathon in the SRP run, good luck and stay safe!

srp is transferred to the last part of the marathon, it will be so hot running that route, and i believe there are still runners in that route when the road will be opened (@ 9:30 AM) to motorist, thats a dangerous route for runners when that happen… hope they will extend the opening of the srp at around 11AM/12NN, its also nice if they’re going to have a firetruck in the SRP to shower the runners with water to lessen the heat.

Vard,
I also wish they can shower runners at the SRP. That would really be refreshing!

Good day!
I checked the cebumarathon.com today (because last december 18, their map is not yet updated) srp is not in the last part, after capitol, go straight all the way down to SRP. the kilometer marker is misleading.
thank you
